1. What the service is
WavesAI Tutor gives you an AI tutor, a study coach, revision flashcards, a translator and progress tools. Everything on it is generated by artificial intelligence.
WavesAI Tutor is a study aid. Its purpose is to break difficult topics down into smaller steps and explain them in plain language, at the student's own pace, as many times as the student needs, so that the student understands the work rather than simply copies it. It is there to support the teaching a student already receives — from their school, college, teacher or human tutor — and to give them somewhere to turn when they are stuck outside lesson time.
It is not a qualified human teacher, not a school, not a tuition agency and not an examination board. It does not award, endorse, accredit or guarantee any qualification, grade or result, and it is not a substitute for attending school or college or for the advice of a teacher.
2. Who can use it
If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian to use WavesAI Tutor, and they accept these terms on your behalf. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising how a child uses the service.
3. Hours, and how the weekly allowance works
Capped plans are sold by the hour, per week. An hour of tutoring is counted as 20 questions and answers, which is roughly three minutes a turn — reading the explanation, trying it yourself, then coming back. A 4-hour plan is therefore 80 questions a week, a 7-hour plan 140, and a 10-hour plan 200. The allowance resets every week, and what you have left is shown to you as you use it.
Every answer is produced by a live AI model, which costs real money each time it runs, so the allowance is what lets us charge one flat monthly price instead of billing by the question. Practical detail:
- The allowance is weekly, not daily — so a student who does nothing midweek and then sits down with three past papers on a Sunday still has the full week's hours to spend.
- It belongs to the account and is shared between the children on your plan, so a family is never stopped by one child's quiet week while another has mocks.
- Only questions the AI answers count. Breaking a topic into parts, the built-in lesson content, the translator and audio playback are all free and unlimited. A set of revision flashcards counts as one question.
- Unlimited plans have no weekly cap. They remain subject to the acceptable-use rules below and to reasonable limits against automated abuse.
- Unused hours do not roll over into the following week.
- We may change the number of questions an hour is counted as. If we reduce the allowance for paying subscribers we will tell you before it takes effect.
- A plan is for the children named on it. Sharing an account outside your household, reselling access, or using scripts or bots to send questions is not permitted and may result in access being withdrawn.
4. Accuracy — please read this one
How your AI Tutor is meant to be used. Your AI Tutor is at its best when it is breaking a difficult topic into steps, explaining the same idea a second and a third way until it lands, showing a worked example, and giving a student the confidence to attempt the question themselves. That is what it is for, and that is how it should be used: as a study aid alongside a student's lessons, notes, textbook and specification — not instead of them, and not as the final word on anything that will be marked.
AI can be confidently wrong. Your AI Tutor is told your exam board, level and books, and it teaches to them, but it can still make mistakes, miss a recent specification change, or explain something in a way your school does not use. Always check anything important against your own specification, textbook or teacher. We do not guarantee any particular grade, result or outcome, and we are not responsible for marks lost as a result of relying on an answer.
What this means in practice. Your AI Tutor is a study aid. It is not a qualified teacher, not an examiner, and not a replacement for school, college or a human tutor. It can state something incorrect in a confident and convincing way, and it will not always know when it is wrong. It may be out of date where an exam board has changed its specification. It may mark practice work more generously or more harshly than a real examiner would. Treat every explanation as a starting point to be checked, never as a final authority, and never as the only source a student revises from.
Parents and guardians. Where the student is under 18, the account holder is responsible for supervising how the service is used and for checking work where it matters. We recommend that a parent, guardian or teacher reviews anything that will be submitted, assessed or relied on for an exam.
No professional advice. Nothing produced by the service is careers, medical, legal, financial or other professional advice, and it should not be relied on as such.
5. Honest use of your work
Your AI Tutor is built to teach you the method rather than hand you finished answers. Submitting AI-generated work as your own may breach your school's or exam board's rules on academic honesty, and that is your responsibility, not ours. Use it to understand the work, not to avoid it.
6. Free trial
New accounts get a free trial for seven days. No card is asked for and nothing is charged — if you do nothing at the end of it, it simply stops. The trial includes a set number of AI questions in total across the whole seven days, so that a trial cannot quietly run up a cost; when those are used the trial ends early and you are invited to subscribe. Your work and your profile stay where they are, so subscribing picks up exactly where you left off.
7. Subscriptions and payment
Paid plans are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically until cancelled. All prices are in pounds sterling and you are charged in pounds wherever you are in the world; your own bank may apply its own conversion if your card is not a sterling card.
Payments are taken by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Subscribing charges the first month immediately — there is no card-based trial period — and you can cancel at any time from the billing page linked in your account, keeping access until the end of the month you have paid for. Prices may change; we will give notice before a change affects your renewal. Statutory rights to cancel and to a refund are unaffected.
8. Family plans and who may use an account
Plans are sold per child. A one-child plan is for one named student, a two-child plan for two, and a three-child plan for three. Each student gets their own learning profile, and the plan's weekly hours are shared between them.
A family plan is for children living in the same household as the account holder. It may be used on as many devices as that family needs — a laptop at home, a phone on the way to school, a tablet at a grandparent's house — but it is not for sharing with friends, other families, classes, tutoring groups or anyone outside the household. Accounts that show use beyond a single household may be moved to the correct plan or suspended.
9. Your information and your privacy
WavesAI is the data controller for the personal information described here. We ask for as little as we can get away with, and we do not sell any of it.
What we hold, and why.
- Your account — the name and email address you sign up with, and your password, which is stored only as a one-way hash and cannot be read back by us or by anyone else. This is what lets you sign in and keeps your subscription attached to you.
- Your subscription — which plan you are on, whether it is active, and a reference number issued by Stripe. We do not receive or store your card number, expiry date or security code at any point; those go straight to Stripe.
- Your usage — a running count of the questions used this week, so the allowance in section 3 can be applied. It is a number, not a record of what was asked.
- The student profile — subject, country, level, exam board, class, books, exam date — is stored in your own browser, not on our servers. Clearing your browser data clears it, along with your saved progress.
Who else sees it. When a question is asked, that question, the profile details and the recent conversation are sent to our AI provider so that it can be answered. Payments are handled by Stripe, who receive your email address and your card details directly. Both are established providers acting on our behalf under contract; neither is permitted to sell your information or to use it to identify you. Audio is produced by your own device's built-in speech feature — nothing you say or hear is recorded or uploaded by us.
How long we keep it. Your account and subscription details are kept for as long as you have an account, and afterwards only for as long as we are required to keep records of a payment. Ask us to close your account and we will delete it.
Children. Accounts are held by an adult. Where the student is a child, the parent or guardian is the account holder and it is their name and email we hold — we do not knowingly ask a child for their personal details, and we do not require a child's real name to use the service.
Your rights. You may ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and you may object to how we use it. Write to support@wavesaistudio.com and we will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The site stores your sign-in and your profile in your own browser so that you are not asked to set everything up again on every visit.
10. Availability
We aim to keep the service running at all times, but we cannot guarantee it. It may be unavailable, slowed or limited for maintenance, for reasons outside our control, or when a usage limit has been reached. If the AI is unreachable, the site falls back to its built-in lesson content so you can keep working.
11. Acceptable use
Do not use WavesAI Tutor to produce anything unlawful, abusive, hateful, sexual, or harmful, to attempt to extract or misuse our systems or keys, or to interfere with other people's use of the service. We may suspend or withdraw access where these terms are broken.
12. Intellectual property
The website, its content, design and branding belong to WavesAI. You may use the material generated for you for your own study. You may not copy, resell or redistribute the service or its content.
13. Liability
WavesAI Tutor is provided on an "as is" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost marks or missed opportunities, or for any loss arising from reliance on AI-generated content. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid us in the previous twelve months.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
15. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
